Kristiansand and Highlights of South Coast and South Cape

Good Morning, Kristiansand!! Looks cold out there, doesn't it? But, aren't those colors gorgeous? The blues are sooo blue and the snow is sparkling. 8:30 am!

Here's our ship, the  MS Trollfjord.

Across the way is the local Opera House.

It is Saturday. Nancy and I took a bus tour of the South Coast and South Cape.
The pictures are of several colorful buildings that are fish markets. Some of the pictures are blurry. Had to include them anyway, so you don't miss this cool town, with all the snow. They tell us that the snow has melted a lot in the last 2 days. The temperature got up to 36 today. The snow and ice are melting away.

We were surprised to see so many white houses in Norway.
That is the armory in the distance, in the sunrise!

The drive through the countryside was magical, a true winter wonderland.
Our first stop was at a winery, for wine tasting at 9:30 in the morning!!

Here's our winemaker coming out to great us.

The vineyard!!

We did a little wine tasting, listened to how he made wine, and then toured the area...

Sheep...

We were thrilled to meet the winemaker's wife. She is a certified master basket maker.
She talked with us about the practice.

Quite a lovely time...

After more traveling through the winter wonderland, we arrived at an underwater restaurant.
The architect was the same man who designed the Oslo Opera House.

Simplistic design. Beautiful wood...

We understand this guy did not pay his bill.

On the way back home.

  2. Another wonderful day in the snow for the two of you --- it is cold here, but no snow-- sleep well as you sail to the next lovely town.
