Tromso and Environs: Part 1

Nancy and I took off on a one and a half hour bus trip this morning to the countryside.
Part of the drive was in the dark. All of the drive was scenic -- like this -- lots of snow and beautiful mountains on both sides.

At this camp we visited, we were supposed to be dog-sledding. That got messed up. However, we had a great time looking around the camp that has Yurts, Glamping Domes, and little cabins, complete with windows above the beds to view the Northern Lights. We also played with young dogs soon to become sled dogs and reindeer, and hiked in the woods. We were all geared up in the -16 C weather.

  1. Sorry you missed out on dog sledding, but looks as if you had a great time !!

  2. The ice house and cabins look wonderful. Sure is cold there. I'm shivering just looking at the pics. Personally, I think the snowmobile guides had no business going out in white out conditions. But what do I know. I am glad Nancy got to see the North Cape and I hope your knee/leg is not as painful as it sounds. sm

  3. I'd love to try glamping in those yurts! They remind me of the tents we stayed in in Kenya, though it was a LOT warmer there! Such beautiful scenery and how wonderful to meet the pups and reindeer.
